Alice M. Krzyska age 89 of Kenyon died peacefully on Friday, June 20, 2008 at District One Hospital in Faribault surrounded by her family. A memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wanamingo with Reverend Byron Meline officiating. Inurnment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery. The family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.
Alice Marie Quittem was born on July 11, 1918 in Wanamingo to Martin O. and Jennie (nee Vangestad) Quittem. She grew up in Wanamingo and graduated from Wanamingo High School in 1936. Alice attended Calhoun Business School for one year. She worked as an office worker/bookkeeper in the cities. On August 17, 1941 she married Frank W. Krzyska at Trinity Lutheran Church. They made their home in Minneapolis until Frank entered the U.S. Army. Frank served during WW II and Alice moved to Wanamingo. After his honorable discharge they returned to Minneapolis and Alice returned to office work. Frank died on November 11, 1962 and Alice continued to live in Minneapolis. After retiring, she moved to Wanamingo and had resided in Kenyon for the past six years. Alice was a lifelong and charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a member of the Lady Bugs of the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed her family, traveling and going on cruises, knitting and crocheting. Alice is survived by three daughters, Karen Marie Krzyska of Rockland, ME, Jeanne Pinc of Brooklyn Park, and Kathleen Louise Krzyska of Minneapolis, two sons, Michael Frank Krzyska of Salt Lake City, UT and William John Krzyska of Minneapolis, seven grandchildren, Elizabeth Pinc, Paul Tobis, Jennifer (Dale) Lovi, Kelly Krzyska, Brittany (Joseph) Cowdell, Christopher (Elizabeth) Pinc and Shannon Pinc, twelve great grandchildren, Jacob and Melissa Lovi, James, Jacob, Joseph, Joshua, Caroline and John Pinc, Karsten and Kaia Ruliffson, Hayden and Hudson Cowdell, and two sisters, Berdelle Wallaker of Wanamingo and Louise Potera of Kenyon and her dog Jippy. Alice was preceded in death by her husband Frank, parents and three brothers, Kenneth, Jewel and Melvin. Alice lived a simple life, full of blessings and memories. The family suggests memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church.
