Alfred Richard Hinck, age 90, of Lake City, passed away Saturday, August 6, at his residence. He was born on September 30, 1920 to John and Anna (Fitschen) Hinck. He grew up and went to school in Belvidere, then started working on the family farm. On March 5, 1943 he married Mary Ann Miller at St John's Lutheran Church in Lake City. In 1947 they moved off of Alfred's family farm to their own farm. Alfred farmed until retiring in 1997, he continued to live on the farm until past March when they moved to Lake City. Alfred was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He enjoyed farming and playing cards.
Alfred is survived by his wife Mary Ann Hinck of Lake City; 7 children, Phyllis (Freddy) Groth of Zumbrota, Roger (Lorna) Hinck of Lake City, Joanne (Loren Prairie) Lafferty of Apple Valley, Sharon (Tim) Alexander of Victoria, MN, Darlene (Tom) Anway of Park City, UT, Mary Freiburg of Lake City, Lisa (Loren) Jacob of Lake City; 14 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and one godchild, John Hinck.
Alfred is preceded in death by his parents; son, Delbert Hinck; grandson, Steve; brother, Alvin Hinck; sisters, Elsie Hinck and Marie Tomforde.
Funeral service will be on Wednesday, August 10, 2011, at 11 am at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City with Reverend Daniel Kroll officiating. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 9, 2011, from 5-7pm at Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society of the American Diabetes Association.
