Alberta Jean Roberson, 77, of Zumbro Falls, died Saturday, July 14, 2007, at her home. She was bon on March 27, 1930 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Albert and Evalina (Sprenger) Schultz. She graduated from Lake City High School in 1947 and then attended nursing school in Rochester. On May 22, 1948 she married David Roberson in Lake City. They farmed their entire married life. She was also involved with the Roberson Lime and Rock and she owned the Dirty Thumb Greenhouse. David died March 22, 2004. She was an active member at Zumbro Falls United Methodist Church, a longtime vendor at the Rochester Downtown Farmers Market, past member of the Women Independent Business Organization in Rochester and when her children were young she was a 4H adult leader. Her past and present greenhouse staff were a very special part of her life and her passion was nuturing her grandchildren and growing plants.
Survivors include one daughter, Carol (Ralph) Johnson of Marietta, Pennsylvania; three sons, Gary (Rebecca Siems) Roberson, Barid (Carlene) Roberson and Kent (Bonnie) Roberson all of Zumbro Falls; eight grandchildren; two great grandsons; two step grandchildren; one step great grandchild; one sister, Muriel (Ron) Isaacson of Medford, Wisconsin and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Kevin and two brothers, Fred and Roger.
A Celebration of Life service will be 5 p.m. Saturday, July 21, 2007, at the Zumbro Falls United Methodist Church with Rev. David Neil officiating. Burial will be in the Lakewood Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be her past and present staff at the Greenhouse. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the donor's choice. Funeral arrangements are by the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City.
