Alberta J. Bauerkemper, 95, of Red Wing, died Saturday, April 3, 2010 at Fairview Seminary Home. She was born April 27, 1914 on her grandparents' Dan and Nettie McLaughlin farm near Spring Valley, Wisconsin the daughter of Fredrick and Lillian (McLaughlin) Chapman. She attended school in Spring Valley, Red Wing, Milwaukee, and LaCrosse. She married Roy A. Bauerkemper of Oak Grove Township on June 3, 1937 in Saint Paul. They farmed in Belvidere and Flower Valley, retiring to Red Wing in 1968, where she cleaned for Ferrin Furniture. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Red Wing. Alberta was an avid reader, especially westerns, loved embroidery and sewing.

Alberta is survived by three daughters; Joy Heath of Plum City, Shirley (Michael) Flynn of Red Wing, and Avis (Joseph) Campbell of Red Wing; and eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sister-in-law, Dorothy Chapman of Red Wing; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy on December 18, 1994; three brothers: Irvin "Bud", Clifford and his wife, Grace and Neil and his wife, Delphine Chapman; two half-brothers: Harold and Loyal and his wife Helen Chapman; half-sister, Gladys Ramlet; son-in-law, Dale Heath and one granddaughter.

Funeral will be 11 a. m. Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at St. John's Lutheran Church with Reverend Todd Engel officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial are preferred to the church. Arrangements handled by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
