Alan L. Halvorson

Alan Lee Halvorson, 58, died unexpectedly Friday, April 11, 2008 of a brain aneurism at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. He was born April 15, 1949 in Red Wing to Luther "Luke" and Lucy (Reichhard) Halvorson. After graduating from Red Wing Central High School in 1967, he attended the University of Minnesota. He lived in Red Wing and his early career included working at Pittsburg Plate Glass; Red Wing Sewer Pipe and at American Hoist Derrick, where he was a boom welder. He also partnered with his father, a carpenter/contractor, on many jobs throughout Red Wing, both with remodeling commercial properties and designing/constructing new projects. Later he was a computer programmer, spending 10 years with Citizen's Security Insurance, followed by time with Harmon Glass, Insurity, and consulting for JMH Computer Services. Alan was devoutly passionate about his hobbies, which included movies, music, electronics, hunting, and golf. He was the 1983 Club Champion at Red Wing Country Club. He also enjoyed big game hunting out west with his brother, his dog Moose, and watching his nephew play sports.

He is survived by his Mother, Lucy of Red Wing; two brothers, Mike (Sue) Halvorson and Dan (Marlene) Halvorson, both of Red Wing; a sister, Nancy (John) Bunten of Black Diamond, Washington: and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by maternal and paternal grandparents, his father, and one Sister, Diane Ilami.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, at the Church of St. Joseph with Father Thomas M. Kommers presiding. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are being handled by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. Memorials to the Halvorson Family.
