RED WING - The funeral for Agnes O. Ulstad will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Minneola Lutheran Church, Minneola Township, Goodhue County, with the Rev. Sarah Nietz officiating. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. Mrs. Ulstad, 92, of Rochester, formerly of Red Wing, died Tuesday, (March 13, 2007) at the Madonna Towers Nursing Home. Agnes Othelia Ofstie was born May 8, 1914 in Zumbrota to Andrew and Clara (Stromme) Ofstie. She graduated from Zumbrota High School in 1932. On Oct. 26, 1935 she married Arnold ?Arnie? Ulstad at Minneola Lutheran Church. The couple lived in Zumbrota before moving to Red Wing where she worked at Red Wing Shoe for 13 years while attending two years of night school for bookkeeping and typing. Her husband worked for S.B. Foot Tanning Company in Red Wing for thirty years. The couple operated Granny?s In Stitches at the Red Wing Pottery Building for 13 years. They were foster parents for children with disabilities for 40 years. They enjoyed traveling in their Motor Home with foster children throughout the United States. They also traveled in Israel, Egypt, and Europe. The couple moved to Rochester in 2002. Mr. Ulstad died Dec. 15, 2003. She had resided at Madonna Towers since the fall of 2005. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, gardening, traveling, and spending time with her family. Survivors include three daughters, Bonnie (Richard) Frisk of Oakdale, MN; Sandra (Bruce) Lisko of Rochester; and Cheryl (Jerry) Burke of Woodbury, MN: her son Dennis (Sue) of Forest Lake, MN; nine grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and many foster children including Lawrence Dietrich of Red Wing. One great grandson and two brothers preceded her in death. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Mahn Family Funeral Home ? Bodelson ? Mahn Chapel in Red Wing and one hour before the service at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Minneola Lutheran Church.
