Adeline L. Peterson, age 92, of Zumbrota, died on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Zumbrota Health Services. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Minneola Lutheran Church with Pastor Sarah Nietz officiating. Burial will be in Minneola Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Adeline Louise Bjugan was born on November 10, 1920, on a farm outside Wanamingo, MN to Albert and Lydia (nee Berg) Bjugan. She graduated from Wanamingo High School in 1938, where she was the Valedictorian of the graduating class. Adeline graduated from Teacher Training School in Winona and Red Wing and taught country school for several years in the Wanamingo area. Adeline met Tom Peterson at Minneola Lutheran Church where they both sang in the church choir and on June 12, 1948, they were married at Minneola Lutheran Church. Adeline and Tom were both baptized, confirmed, married, and now will be buried at the church and lived in the Zumbrota area their entire married life. Adeline also worked as a church secretary for Lands-Minneola Church partnership for over 25 years. Adeline was an active member of Minneola Lutheran Church where she participated as a Sunday school teacher, bible study, quilting, lector, and also sang in the church choir. She enjoyed sewing, baking, crafts, and crossword puzzles. Adeline liked to attend sporting events, concerts, and community sponsored activities. She volunteered at the local hospital and nursing home. Adeline was known for always being on the go, full of energy, and loved being around people, especially family and friends.
Adeline is survived by her sons, Mike of Zumbrota, Paul of Maple Grove; ten nieces and nephews; and seven brothers and sisters-in-law.
Adeline was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas who died on August 25, 1998; parents; brother, Arnold Bjugan; sister, Connie Rostad; and infant twin sister who died at birth.
