ROCHESTER - Adela Kohner, age 99, died peacefully Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Arbor Terrace Senior Living in Rochester.
Adela Bertha Amanda Steuernagel was born July 9, 1916 in Utica Township, Winona County, Minnesota to Albert and Anna (Tews) Steuernagel. Adela married Francis R. Kohner on Oct. 3, 1942. The couple lived in Winona, MN until 1940, when they moved to Rosemount, MN, Hanford, WA, and then to Minneapolis, MN in 1945. They moved to Rochester in 1967. Adela moved to Arbor Terrace Senior Living in 2005. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, and enjoyed baking for family and friends, sewing, Women's ministry at Grace, and knitting, crocheting, and playing cards.
Survivors include her daughters Carol (John) Fjelsta of Richmond, MN; and Diane (Gary) Koenig of Rochester, MN; her son John (Dawn) of Eden Prairie, MN; five grandchildren Scott (Cindy) Fjelsta, Brad (Tanya) Fjelsta, Drew (Joanne) Koenig, Alisa Rippentrop, and Joseph Kohner, nine great grandchildren, two brothers Connie Steuernagel of Wabasha, MN; and Ray Steuernagel of Winona; and her sister-in-law Rita Steuernagel of Rochester. Adela was preceded in death by her husband Francis who died July 14, 1978, her parents, two sisters and two brothers.
The memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church in Rochester with Pastor Greg Heidorn officiating. Vistitation will be one hour before the service at the church.
