Arnold Joyce Alme was born August 16, 1921 in Goodhue County to Arthur and Josie Alme. He attended and graduated from Wanamingo High School in 1938. Joyce married Lucille Hammond of Rochester on November 6, 1943 at Zumbro Lutheran Church in Rochester. The couple operated a dairy farm in rural Wanamingo and Joyce also worked as a seed corn salesman for DeKalb. In the late 1950's he formed Alme Equipment and sold Van Dale Equipment and Rochester Silos. In the 1970's Joyce began selling Hanson Silos and equipment and service with his son Gary, who is still active in the business. Joyce and Lucille moved from the farm into Wanamingo in 1970. He continued to help on the farm and with the business until the spring of 2006. Joyce was an active member of the Wanamingo Lions Club as well as Lands Lutheran Church, where he served on several committees, particularly the Property Committee. He loved spending his free time fishing. In the first year he bought a boat, it was only used once. That changed significantly in the following years. Joyce enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and playing cards with family and friends. Joyce is survived by his wife Lucille of Wanamingo; three sons, David (Judi) of Minneapolis, MN, Neil (Kathy) of Bloomington, MN and Gary (Norma) of West Concord. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; six nieces and four nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Janet Buskowiak and Marjorie Grendahl. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or Lands Lutheran Church. Arrangements are with Mahn Family Funeral Home-Larson Chapel, Zumbrota.
