Susan M. (Duffing) Kirchner

Susan Marie Kirchner, 69, of Red Wing, died Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at the Mayo Clinic, St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester. She was born June 7, 1952 in Red Wing to Charles and Carmen (Bischoff) Duffing. She grew up in Red Wing and graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1970. On April 29, 1972 she married Joseph Kirchner and together they made their home in Red Wing. Susan worked part time at Randy’s Restaurant but most of her time was devoted to raising her two children. While they were growing up, she was active in both of her children’s Boy and Girl Scouting activities. In her younger years she and Joe enjoyed trap shooting together. More recently, she looked forward to having coffee with her friends from the Downtown Plaza every morning. More than anything, she loved being a mother and grandmother.

She is survived by children, Jamie (Angela) Kirchner of Duluth and Jennifer (Randy) Hanson of Spooner, Wisconsin; 3 grandchildren, Brenden, Jazmin and Jonah; brother, Ernest (Gloria) Duffing of Hastings; sisters-in-law, Jeanne Duffing of Red Wing and Susie (Lee) Robins of Blooming Prairie.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; brothers, Charles Duffing Jr. and Harvey Duffing; sister, Faye Lindblom; sister-in-law, Angie Chelmo; and her parents.
