Helen Elizabeth Ottman, 94, of Red Wing, died Monday, December 1, 2014 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Red Wing. She was born May 20, 1920, in Trenton Township, Wisconsin to Carl and Minnie (Hilden) DeJager and attended Allehoe School in Wisconsin and Red Wing Central High School in Red Wing, Minnesota. She was united in marriage to Glen Ottman on October 1, 1938 in Red Wing. She worked at Sunnyside Grocery, did catering and housekeeping and volunteered as an election judge. A lover of the outdoors, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Degree of Honor, Izaak Walton, Burnson-Lillyblad VFW Auxiliary and the Red Wing Conservation Club.
She is survived by 2 sons, Gary (Beatie) and Charlie Ottman both of Red Wing; 4 grandchildren, Al (Robyn) Ottman, Steve (Lisa) Ottman, Niki (Brent) Warner and Richard Ottman and 3 great-grandchildren, Tanner and Parker Tredup and Chandler Warner, nieces and nephews and other family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one grandson, Dale and special friend Owen Redman
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church, Red Wing, with Reverend Greg Strunk officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery. Urnbearers will be Al and Steve Ottman, Brent Warner and Sam Redman. Honorary urnbearers will be Bob Stone and Tom Muller. A visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the Izaak Walton or the church. May this day bring smiles and happiness to my many friends and relatives-see you later and keep smiling, love, Helen.
