Eugene Paul Samuelson, 79, of Hager City, went home to be with his wife on her birthday, Sunday, January 14, 2018. He was born in West Concord, MN on August 19, 1938 to Iver and Ruth (Stone) Samuelson. He graduated from Red Wing High School and went on to serve in the United States Navy. Eugene was united in marriage to Beverly Mathews on September 13, 1961. He worked at Armours Stockyards in South St. Paul, then Durkee Atwood and Dayco where he retired from later on. Eugene enjoyed watching sports on the television and listening on the radio, as he was an avid Vikings fan.
Eugene is survived by his four sons, David and Duane Samuelson, both of Hager City, Paul Samuelson of Ellsworth, and Peter Samuelson of Red Wing; nieces, nephews, cousins, and one sister-in-law, Carolyn Samuelson of Inver Grove Heights. He is preceded in death by his wife, Beverly on November 23, 2013; his parents; and brother, William.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Cornerstone Community Church in Red Wing with Reverend Mark Kalb officiating. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Red Wing. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel from 4-7 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the church.
